Travis Kern
Position: MS, LPC
Partnering with families to help them repair and strengthen their connection is one of Travis’s greatest passions. Travis has trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and has been serving couples, individuals, and families with FRCS since 2017. He earned his MS from Southern Methodist University and specializes in treating marital conflict, premarital preparation, anxiety, grief, anger, and depression. He also specializes in adolescent issues including: school issues, divorce recovery, bullying, anxiety, and depression. Travis takes a compassionate and direct approach to therapy to identify and treat the root cause of your distress.
Travis is a lifelong Texan and a proud citizen of Dallas. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, cooking new recipes, cheering for the local Dallas sports teams, playing board games, and spending time with his wife and friends.

R. Lance Gardner
Position: MA, LPC-S, CSAT
Lance earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Family Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University. Lance has been working in the mental health industry since 1997 and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2000. Lance enjoys working with individuals as well as couples and families. Specialties and interests include marital and premarital counseling, divorce recovery, blended family issues.
As a CSAT (Certified Sexual Addictions Therapist) Candidate, Lance also works with individuals impacted by compulsive or otherwise problematic behaviors and trauma. Lance is trained to support partners and children who are dealing with the behavior of family members in these areas as well.
Lance is also a board approved supervisor in the state of Texas and offers supervision to LOC Associates. He and his wife (Evie) started Family Restoration Counseling Services in 2009. They have been married since 1997 and have three children.

Cris works with couples, individuals, and families to sort through the difficulties of relationships. Cris welcomes clients with openness, encouragement, and respect. She values the variety of experiences, backgrounds, and culture that each client brings into the session. Her clinical experience includes working with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, affair recovery, and life transitions.
Cris received her Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. She earned her Bachelors Degree from California State University, Fullerton.

Meg Bartlett
Position: Graduate Student Intern (Supervised by Lance Gardner, LPC-S)
Meg Bartlett graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She is currently earning her Master in Counseling and Master in Christian Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. During her clinical training, she’s had the privilege of working with couples and individuals navigating sexual dysfunction, sexual trauma, improving communication and relationship satisfaction, as well as dealing with depression and anxiety. Her heart is to establish a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment where couples and individuals can express themselves openly. She’s dedicated to empowering clients to make positive changes in their relationships and equipping them with the tools necessary to maintain healthy connections over time.
Meg was born in San Diego, CA, and lives in Plano, TX, with her husband and mischievous puppy, Winnie. When she’s not chasing Winnie through the house trying to get her sock back, Meg enjoys reading fantasy novels, cooking new recipes, and having her friends over for girls’ nights.

Dawn Evertson
Position: M.Ed, LPC-A (Supervised by Julie Coleman, LPC-S)
With over 25 years of working with children and young adults, Dawn has a passion for working with adolescents, and their families, addressing and managing behavioral problems, anxiety and depression, grief/loss, as well as school issues. Her tenured experience as an educator and counselor in Texas Elementary and Middle Schools has equipped her with techniques to help meet a wide range of client needs including those with ADD/ADHD.
Dawn understands that everyone walks through life differently and everyone deserves to be heard. She creates a safe environment where her clients are empowered and allows them to work towards developing and implementing skills necessary to walk their own path.
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Dawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She continued her education at Lamar University and received her Master of Education in Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate currently under the supervision of Julie Coleman, LPC-S.

Melissa James
Position: LPC-A (Supervised by Jennifer Smothermon, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT/S)
Melissa graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies and received her Master of Education in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce in 2007. She has been in education for 21 years and her experience includes teaching Personal and Family Development Classes, serving as a Parent Educator, teaching Special Education and School Counseling. She is an LPC associate currently under the supervision of Jennifer Smothermon, LPC-S, LMFT -S, RPT -S.
Melissa has a passion for helping children, adolescents, young adults and their families through situations of trauma, school issues, grief/loss, behavioral problems, anxiety and depression. Her background and experience have strongly equipped her with a variety of techniques to help meet the needs of children with ADD, ADHD, and Autism as well. She plans to pursue her RPT licensure along with her LPC.
Melissa has been married to her husband for 19 years and has 3 children. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling anywhere there is sun and water.
